The factsheet answers core questions asked by pediatricians with respect to POSC provisions outlined in the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA). Supportive measures taken toward pregnant women who have a history of prenatal substance use are in the best interest of the mother-infant dyad. Pediatricians and other providers working with families affected by prenatal opioid use can advance an individualized approach to their care within the context of a family-centered system of services.
